The Courage to Say No

May you have the courage to say no –
no to the madness of the arms race
no to shallow Christian experience
no to increasingly comfortable lives for ourselves
no to all those who have made security a god
no to policies that favour the rich at the cost of the dispossessed.
May you have the courage to say no to all these areas of death
and always,
through the way you live each day,
the courage to reaffirm life in all its hope and promise.
